Conax High Density Feedthrough (HD)
Conax® HD High Density Feedthrough
High Density Sealing Glands for Temperature Validation and Thermal Mapping
The Conax® High Density Feedthrough provides a secure, pressure-tight method of passing multiple thermocouples or copper conductors through a single process connection. Designed for demanding validation and thermal mapping applications, the HD Series enables validation engineers to install a large number of temperature sensors while minimising the number of vessel or chamber penetrations required.
The HD Series is widely used throughout the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and healthcare industries for temperature validation, thermal mapping and equipment qualification, particularly where chamber entry points are limited.
Ideal for Pharmaceutical Validation Applications
The Conax® HD gland is commonly used during the validation and qualification of:
- Pharmaceutical steam autoclaves
- Dry heat sterilisers
- Freeze dryers (lyophilisers)
- Stability chambers
- Environmental chambers
- Incubators
- Cold rooms
- Refrigerators and freezers
- Process vessels and reactors
During thermal mapping studies, it is often necessary to install multiple thermocouples throughout the chamber to accurately monitor temperature distribution and identify hot and cold spots. The HD Series allows these sensors to pass through a single process connection while maintaining a reliable mechanical seal.
This significantly reduces installation time, simplifies cable management and helps maintain the integrity of the chamber throughout validation testing.
Designed for Lyophiliser Validation
The Conax® HD gland is particularly well suited to freeze dryer (lyophiliser) validation, where numerous thermocouples are required to monitor shelf temperatures, product temperatures and chamber conditions during freezing, primary drying and secondary drying cycles.
As lyophilisers often have limited instrumentation ports, the HD Series provides an efficient solution for routing multiple thermocouples through a single chamber entry without compromising sealing performance.
This makes the HD gland an ideal choice for Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), Performance Qualification (PQ) and routine thermal mapping studies.
High Capacity Design
Each HD Series gland can accommodate up to 60 individual conductors, equivalent to 30 thermocouple pairs, allowing a large number of measurement points to be installed through a single process connection.
Where even greater capacity is required, multiple HD glands can be combined within a Conax® MHM Multi-Hole Module, enabling up to 240 individual conductors (120 thermocouple pairs) to pass through a single assembly.
This modular approach provides exceptional flexibility for large-scale validation projects involving complex equipment or extensive thermal mapping requirements.
