A temperature transmitter is an electrical device that converts the output from either a thermocouple (mV) or Resistance Temperature Detector (Ohm) to a standard 4-20mA output.
This allows the temperature probe output to be converted to a more convenient output that can be transmitted over long distances with a 2 wire cable.
The most common form of transmitter is a ‘hockey puck’ style which is mounted inside a standard sized terminal head.
The transmitters can be programmed either by Thermal Detection, or by the user, to suit the temperature probe detector type and min / max temperature range to match the 4-20mA output.
